Bob Ohlwiler originally joined Florida CAN when people were afraid to publicly support marijuana reform. Fines and sentences were extremely harsh and fear from repercussions with career and community issues were paramount. Most people were not comfortable with filling out information on a petition for fear that the government would flag them as harassment targets.
We came a long way from those early days with many more entities and individuals speaking out and making changes as we continue on our mission. We were a small group of dedicated individuals that help change Florida laws on medical marijuana and hemp production.
Florida was known as the worst state in the US with respect to marijuana laws. Bob’s first goal for Florida CAN was to become the 49 worst state which we accomplished rather quickly. We still have a lot of work to fine tune the medical market with more focus on the patient.
Full legalization has been Bob’s goal since joining Florida CAN and he plans to retire when Florida and the United States are fully legalized.
