Florida CAN is dependent upon individual support to carry out our mission. Your dollars are carefully allocated to assure we reach opinion makers and community leaders, provide resources for local activism and empower individuals to work in their community.
We are organized for the purpose of generating public support for sensible cannabis policies and to assist in the implementation thereof; to provide a forum for the public to speak out on this issue of national social concern; to educate the public regarding the consequences of cannabis prohibition and to raise funds to promote these civic purposes.
Florida CAN, reorganized in April 2011. We established a small board of directors, an advisory board and committee chairs – together this group makes up our executive committee. Donors who wish to take a more active role may declare their intent to become a member. Members may serve on committees, volunteer to chair committees, be invited to serve on our Advisory or be elected to our Board of Directors.
In 2013, Florida CAN raised $38,437. Florida CAN volunteers contributed time and resources equaling nearly double what we spent in cash. Currently, our professional staff donate the lion share of their time for a token monthly stipend from the organization.
We have an ambition schedule of activities for 2014 including:
Promoting the passage of a hemp exemption
implementing new legislation
Creation of the 2014 Voters Guide
Facelifts for the FLCAN family of web sites
Promotion of Amendment 2
